Union County is part of the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit of South Carolina along with York County. The Sixteenth Circuit Solicitor's Office prosecutes all felony cases in General Sessions Court for both Union and York counties. York County is the more populous of the two Sixteenth Circuit counties, but Union County's cases are prosecuted through the same circuit Solicitor's Office. The Solicitor manages all aspects of felony prosecution from initial charging through final disposition for cases originating in Union County.
